Plumbing is often unpredictable. A small leak at a shower valve may turn into huge leak behind the wall.  This small plumbing job is now a much larger plumbing job, changing from an hour to perhaps a half a day of work. This is bad news for the homeowner, and this is bad news for the others on the schedule that day. This is also bad news for Judy, because I have to call customers and rearrange and reschedule. I need to prioritize, and this is difficult because all of our customers are important to us. I take into consideration those who have taken a day off work, those who have scheduled another contractor to follow our part of a project, those who have plumbing emergencies such as leaks and no heat, and other criteria.
Believe me, if I call you to reschedule an appointment, I have sat staring at the phone for a few minutes formulating how I can best deliver the message, how I can minimize disruption to your life, Â and how I can keep you satisfied as our customer.
However hard it may be to deliver bad news, there is NEVER a reason to miss an appointment without notifying the customer. Make sure you give your contractor a number that you can be reached at throughout the day so you receive any updates or changes to scheduled appointments.
