Time flies so quickly, another World Plumbing Day is fast approaching. In case you don’t have your calendar marked, it is March 11th. All kidding aside, the mission of World Plumbing Day is to promote the role that plumbing plays in improving public health and safeguarding the environment. Recently, natural disasters such as the earthquake in Haiti and the tsunami in Japan have emphasized the importance of safe drinking water and sanitation systems. We take for granted the sanitized water systems that are in place in this country, but it is still a struggle in many less developed areas. Our licensed plumbers actually do protect the health of the nation by making sure there are no cross connections between waste water and potable (tap) water. One cross connection made by an unlicensed contractor (or by a contractor who is careless) can jeopardize the health of an entire neighborhood. Before allowing any plumbing work to be done on your home, it is a good idea to check to see if the job requires a plumbing permit and formal inspection.
